Join us this week for another great Tamar Sunrise meeting with Guest  Speaker  Natalie De Vito Festival Director, Junction Arts Festival

After touring to Australia’s great festivals, Natalie fell in love with Australia and relocated to Tasmania from Toronto, Canada in January 2011 to help establish the Junction Arts Festival.  As an independent creative producer, curator, consultant and writer, she has worked for over 15 years in senior positions across the visual and media arts, theatre and performance art in Canada and abroad.  Most recently she was the Artistic Producer of Mammalian Diving Reflex, one of Canada’s leading performance art companies, where she developed and produced large-scale performances and events across 14 countries, working with the local communities to incorporate kids to seniors into their live performances as active collaborators.

In 2009, Natalie held the prestigious position of Deputy Commissioner for Canada at the 51st Venice Biennale, held in Venice Italy, presenting the filmic work of Mark Lewis. She worked for the Ontario Arts Council, a provincial arts funding agency as Acting Media and Visual Arts Officer and following as Artistic Producer to create a participatory arts festival across 5 regional cluster cities in Central Ontario on behalf of the Ontario Government. Natalie has worked in the visual arts as Head of Development and Marketing at The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, and Co-Director of Mercer Union Centre for Contemporary Art, where she established her curatorial work internationally, and began her interest in site-specific and public installations and live art.

The 2012 Junction Arts Festival opens Wednesday, August 22 to Sunday, August 26, 2012.

Join us in the Training room this week to hear Kurtis Alexander who is a Rotary Youth Leadership Awards participant.  RYLA is Rotary's leadership training program for ages 14-30.  Guaranteed to be great - go Kurtis!

Our member minute will be from Janice Devine.

We have a busy week for the club.  Members will be attending the District Forum on Wednesday 18th July at the Grand Chancellor from 6pm.  Some of us will also be going to the Earls Art Centre on Friday night to see Fawlty Towers...can't wait for the "Basil!"...and "my little piranha fish" to make their appearance (and that is not at dinner before hand!).

Remember, don't be a frozen chicken this week, defrost in the LAC Training Room with RC Tamar Sunrise from 7am!

Join us in the Training room this week to hear from Arthur Talbot who will talk to us about the Residential Services for the Intellectually Disabled. We will also have our 'Member Minute' from PP Marcus Courtney.

Caro Brown has also alerted us to the fact that she is riding with her husband Chris 1,340km along the Danube in August 2012.  As part of this, for each kilometre they cycle, they are seeking donations to support the Rotary Club of Tamar Sunrise $20 Meal Club project.

Share the link around your family and friends, and encourage them to share their journey (and also support the Club's fantastic $20 Meal Club Project).    Click on the link below:

DONT FORGET:  The District Group 5 and 6 Forum is on the 18th July 2012 at the Grand Chancellor from 6pm.  It is a great opportunity to hear what other clubs in our region are doing.  Please let Lou Mason or Toni Wagner know if you are going.

PS:  Social Evening 20th July 2012 Fawlty Towers at Earl Art Centre.  See Alex for details!

Remember, its warm inside...don't be a frozen chicken...defrost at Tamar Sunrise from 7am this Wednesday!

Welcome to our new club President for 2012-2013 Lou Mason and her new board.

The club enjoyed our changeover function at Lou's home.  It was great to see members, family and friends there including ADG Chris Williams and his wife Karen.   Congratulations were extended to Marcus Courtney for his year as President as well as reflection and thanks for each board member for their contribution.

The club also recognised members Caroline Brown (Past President [2005-06]) and Judy McLean (OAM) as our two new Paul Harris Fellows.

Lou's first meeting as President will be this week at Launceston Aquatic in the meeting room.

There will be a change to this Wednesday's Guest Speaker.  This week's Guest Speaker will be Darren Alexander speaking about 5 Days of Innovation.

Following the success of the inaugural 5 Days of Innovation in 2010, the festival is back this month bigger and better.

Celebrating innovation in all its forms across Northern Tasmania, events will showcase innovative practices in business, art, food, technology and primary industry.

The festival’s aim is to promote innovation and to encourage the spread and adoption of innovative ideas within the Tasmanian business community.  The festival focuses on the way innovation can act as a stimulus in times of economic uncertainty by unlocking new income sources and making business practices more efficient.
