Seeking "Day on the Green" Volunteers

7/11/2014

For the past 4 years, the Rotary Club of Central Launceston has provided car parking services at A Day on the Green at Josef Chromy Vineyard at Relbia as a fund raiser for the Examiner Empty Stocking Appeal. This year’s concert is on Saturday 6th of December and Aussie Rock legend Jimmy Barnes is the headline act, so a sell-out concert is expected.

Unfortunately this is the day before their club’s major fundraiser, Sally’s Ride so they are now looking for some volunteers from other Rotary clubs to help assist us at A Day on the Green. Basically you provide direction to help concert patron’s park their cars in rows. It’s pretty easy work and it’s actually pretty good fun!

All funds collected will again be donated from “Rotary” to the Examiner Empty Stocking Appeal and all car parking volunteers are able to enter the concert for free and you get to enjoy most of the concert.

If you are interested and can spare a couple of hours, volunteers are needed from either 12:30pm to 3:00pm or 3:00pm to 5:30 pm after which you are free to enter the concert if you want too!

This is day’s program, but people start arriving in the car park from 12:30pmeven though the concert gates don’t officially open till 2:30pm! Some are pretty keen for a good seating position!

RC Central Launceston have a “gold coin collection” donation point as the concert goers leave the car park to head towards the concert, but it’s not mandatory to donate.

At around 7:00pm, all volunteers are needed to walk through the crowd and we do another collection from the crowd using “rattle tins” for maybe 20 minutes.

Around 20 volunteers are needed to help concert patrons exit the car park for about 1 hour from 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm and then you get to drive home without all the traffic jams!
